To be honest I couldnt disagree more with the other review. I've been to the takeaway several times, and each time I've left thinking "maybe they're just having a bad day".
The food is average, not bad but nothing to write home about, just bog standard plan Chinese food. Dont bother asking for rice noodles, or for them to leave anything out thats not on the menu..
The service I've experienced is terrible. The woman manager is rude, impatient, pushy and frequently has got our order wrong!
I havent been to the pub side, so I can not comment but I am glad to see the front of the building still has its character and doesnt just look like yet another grubby takeaway.
All in all, I think you are much better off going to Authentic Oriental Take Away down the road in Stowmarket, its a hundred times better!
We've been there to get a chinese takeaway many times since it opened within the last few months. We've been as a couple and as large groups, all ordering different sorts of food off their menu. Everything is brilliantly cooked and can happily say we'll be many many more times in the near and distant future! Prices are average and its good quality you get, and the service is great. They've easily won us over against any competitors near by. Plus, they're a really friendly family.
(Also to note, they don't hide what the kitchen is like - you can see it through the window on the side of the pub, and its well kept! Always busy, and even whilst you're waiting you can see straight into the kitchen when the person at the til is going back and forth.)
The pub is large and spacious - having an area for sofas and comfy seating, a large TV by the bar, and a separate area for pool and darts. All drinks are a good price and they have a great variety, which you don't usually see in a lot of village (or even town) pubs! The area for the pool/darts is also a decent sized so you can play pool without the cues hitting any walls, which can be a problem in a few pubs. There is plenty of seating with tables outside too. And again, the bar staff are friendly! Also the car park is a decent sized, but the pubs only a few minutes walk from us so have never needed to drive ourselves!
